The Fair Festival in Honour of the Exaltation of the Cross "Palekh – the City of Masters"

27 september, 2014, Ivanovo region


Inter-regional Holy Cross fair is held annually on the eve of the patronal feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross (September 27) nearby Holy Cross Church.

The aims and purposes of the fair are:

- to raise the prestige of Palekh – the center of lacquer miniature

- to preserve, develop and promote traditional and contemporary folk arts and crafts by means of demonstration of artistic skills and organization of sales of items made by masters

- to attract domestic and foreign tourist flows, increase tax revenues to the regional and district budgets

- to promote the development of souvenir market and support domestic producers of souvenir and gift products.

To participate in the fair representatives of Ivanovo and all regions of Russia are invited where there are creative crafts, skillful masters of decorative and applied folk art, enterprises and organizations engaged in the production of artistic objects of folk art, agricultural producers.
